- 11
Set the Excalidraw folder — where your drawings are saved (e.g.
Excalidraw).

How the Script Library works
Strip Director is coming to this built-in library soon — one-click install. Until then, add it manually in Part 4. This part just shows how scripts work.
- 13
Back in your vault, the Excalidraw tools icon now sits in the left ribbon.
- 14
Create a new Excalidraw drawing — it opens in the editor.
- 15
Open the Obsidian menu (top-right gem), then the Script Engine (the gear-with-play icon).
- 16
This is Excalidraw's built-in Script Library. Jump to List of available scripts.
- 17
Browse the Editors' Picks.
- 18
Open any script and click Install the script.
- 19
It installs and shows Script is up to date.
- 20
Installed scripts appear under Scripts › Downloaded and in the Obsidian menu.
Add the Strip Director script
- 21
Right-click the Scripts folder in Obsidian → Reveal in Finder.
- 22
Finder opens your Excalidraw/Scripts folder.
- 23
Copy in the two files: Comicbook Strip Director (Library).md and its .svg icon.
- 24
Back in Obsidian, the script appears under Scripts and in the menu's User section.
Install a strip pack & make your first strip
- 25
Run the Strip Director script (from the menu’s User section). The panel opens on Build a page.
- 26
Pick a layout (e.g. 3 rows) — the panels are drawn on your page.
- 27
Copy a strip pack (a
.strippackfile you bought) into the same Scripts folder.
- 28
In the panel’s AI characters section, click Import pack… and choose the
.strippack.
- 29
The cast loads — pick a character, then a costume.
- 30
Pick an action (Standing, Waving, Jumping…) — the figure stamps into the selected panel. Repeat to build your strip!
- 31
Imported packs unpack into a library folder inside Scripts. That’s it — you’re making comics. 🎉
No Obsidian? The packs and free layouts are plain PNG + SVG — they drop into Figma, Miro, Canva, Google Drawings, PowerPoint, anything.
